2/3/14 Subways, sushi & saunas

Sun 2 March 2014

After a blissful sleep we pack and head downstairs. There is different staff on duty but still no English speakers.  So a bit of a pantomime ensues in relation to how to get to the ShinOsaka station.  Eventually we all think we understand each other and hope we have our directions correct.  As we begin our walk towards the local station we come across a large shopping mall and wander into the supermarket where we buy bread and sushi for our breakfast and watch the locals go about their business.

Got to the local station where all maps and ticket machines were in Japanese.  We have no clue.  So we asked a young lady for assistance.  She also had no English but with some pointing at the map we managed to get a ticket back to the airport.  A staff member there then assisted us to purchase tickets to Shinosaka but we have to change trains at Namba.  This is where our first guardian angel appeared.  She could see we were uncertain and made eye contact.  We mutter shinosaka and she says to follow her.  I am not sure we would have done it on our own.  She took us to the gates, told us to go through and down to platform 2.  It was then very easy.  Little bit confusing at Shinosaka but once we had our direction we walked from there following Janine’s map to the hotel. – and we made it…lol

We are staying at Claiton Hotel for $50 a night.  Small room once again but warm and comfortable and close to several train lines.  They supply  free drinks in the afternoon, good  internet and a MALE only bath house.   Shopping centres are close by.

Chris enjoyed the MALE only bath house in the evening and came back smelling lovely.

Janine was so exhausted she had a big afternoon sleep.
This is the futuristic loo in our room.  Get the fright of your life when you sit on it and it starts gushing water into the bowl?????  The instructions below seem to be to use it as a bidet.... BUT no matter how we fiddled with it - it only ran water down into the toilet bowl.  We got used to the sudden gushing of water when we sat. LOL
